Healthcare Market Intelligence Consultant

The Senior Research Consultant (market intelligence consultant) is a key participant in client engagements and business development opportunities. They are responsible for the preliminary and ongoing research around a client’s market of interest and deliverable, serving as a subject matter expert in the disease area and treatment options. They are also responsible for developing market definitions, project specifications and business rules, implementing and executing on standard deliverables, and collaborating closely with the project team to meet client objectives and timeline.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough and relevant market research around therapeutic areas or disease states of interest and where the client is in the product lifecycle to support project demands.
  • Review, evaluate, and develop complete and accurate market definitions using healthcare code sets for client projects and business development opportunities.
  • Develop business rules and support methodology requirements for client projects and new business development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with others on the project team (e.g., Principal, Engagement Consultants, Data Analysts) to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables that meet client objectives – this includes managing methodology and specification documents and change logs, investigating inquiries, surfacing challenges, resolving issues, developing slide decks, and QC of deliverables.
  • Identify key trends and findings based on client’s objectives, provide additional insights, and build a narrative around the deliverable.
  • Lead internal initiatives that improve operational effectiveness.
  • Mentor, guide, and train other Research Consultants.

Job Qualifications:

Background:

  • Advanced or terminal degree in healthcare-related field (e.g., MS, PA, NP, PharmD, MD)
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the healthcare or life sciences industry

Required skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to work within aggressive deadlines, competing priorities, and ambiguous situations
  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple complex client projects, including ability to make decisions and recommendations to project team regarding client management and project deliverables
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to synthesize complex information to pertinent details and adjust to target internal and external audiences
  • Ability to collaborate and work across functional lines to achieve project objectives
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Basic data analytic skills using internal tools or Excel for building market definition and specifications and drawing insights

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare claims data
  • Knowledge of and experience with healthcare code sets (e.g., ICD-10, HCPCS)
  • Clinical experience with ability to translate clinical knowledge into healthcare claims data
  • Basic programming experience (SQL or SAS)

Hiring Locations

Our main office is located in Center City, Philadelphia, where we operate on a hybrid model with in-office work required three days a week for local employees. We believe collaboration is most effective when teams come together, which is why we prioritize hiring in the Philadelphia area.

For certain roles, we also hire from hub locations—regions where we have an established presence with multiple team members working remotely. While these employees primarily work from home, we bring them together in person at least once a year for team-building, collaboration, and strategic planning.

Due to tax and labor regulations, we can only hire from specific states. Remote work is supported in the following key hub locations and approved states:
