Your team manages the foundational platforms that power our data and application environments, primarily AWS and Databricks, ensuring they are reliable, performant and scalable. You will collaborate cross-functionally to implement best-in-class architecture and automation, enabling our systems to meet growing business demands. With a team composed primarily of in-office engineers in Philadelphia and several remote team members, you will drive strategic infrastructure initiatives, foster team development, and ensure our platforms are secure, observable and cost-efficient.

- Implement observability, SLOs, and automated incident response
- Define and drive infrastructure strategy for scale, security, and efficiency
- Standardize IaC practices using CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation
- Build internal developer tools and shared microservices
- Lead and mentor a team of platform, DevOps, and data infrastructure engineers
- Own and optimize cloud infrastructure across compute, data, and orchestration layers
- Partner cross-functionally on architecture, compliance, and long-term planning
How success is defined
- High uptime and performance across all infrastructure systems
- Rapid and effective incident detection, response, and resolution
- Clear, scalable infrastructure patterns adopted organization-wide
- High team engagement, retention, and professional development
- Efficient cost management of compute and data resources
- Strong alignment and collaboration with cross-functional partners
- Delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable platform solutions that meet business needs

The platform team’s stack varies and can include AWS (ECS, Lambda, EC2, S3, IAM), Databricks, and containers for cloud infrastructure and orchestration; Terraform, AWS CDK, and CloudFormation for infrastructure as code; Spark, EMR, and Airflow for data processing and orchestration; and tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, or Prometheus for monitoring and observability. Internal tools and services are typically built using microservices architectures in Python, Go, or Node.js, with support for secure authentication and service communication.
Required skill & experience
- 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams, ideally in hybrid or distributed environments.
- Strong background in cloud-native infrastructure using AWS services (e.g., S3, EMR, Lambda, ECS, EventBridge).
- Deep understanding of Databricks, Spark, and scalable data pipeline architectures.
- Proven experience in platform observability, system performance optimization, and automation.

- Strong coding ability in Python and SQL; familiarity with containerized and serverless architectures.
- Clear and effective communicator capable of aligning stakeholders and teams around platform initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage platform operations at scale while ensuring security, reliability, and compliance.
