Director, Rebate Operations
HealthVerity
How you will help
As a Director, Rebate Operations, you will serve as the knowledge, operational, and communication hub for HealthVerity’s Smart Contracts ecosystem, including owning client engagement and internal execution to ensure complex rebate agreements are delivered accurately and on time. You will manage a rebate analyst on the Engagement Services team, serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, and build strong relationships by setting clear expectations, proactively assessing client needs, and driving engagement to ensure satisfaction and contract compliance.
Rebate agreements are becoming increasingly complex, with massive amounts of diverse data, stricter compliance rules, and tighter deadlines. HealthVerity’s Smart Contracts Manager, an innovative, self-service platform, helps clients overcome these challenges by streamlining the rebate lifecycle and reducing manual, time-consuming tasks. By enhancing transparency and flexibility, this enables clients to efficiently negotiate and manage sophisticated agreements.
Join us to make a real impact in transforming how rebate agreements are managed, ensuring our clients remain ahead in a demanding industry. Your knowledge expertise, proactive communication, and product discipline will ensure we continue to differentiate ourselves by delivering forward-thinking, impactful, and practical solutions to the clients we support.
What you will do
- Own client outcomes for rebate programs: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, establishing trusted relationships, and ensuring deliverables meet contract terms, timelines, and quality standards.
- Apply deep rebating and claims expertise: Leverage strong knowledge of pharmacy and medical rebating, PBM/manufacturer contract structures, NCPDP D.0/Telecom and X12 (e.g., 837) claims flows, adjudication logic, and 340B program considerations to guide decisions and resolve issues.
- Translate across technical and non‑technical teams: Synthesize business objectives, contract terms, data requirements, and edge cases into clear, actionable guidance for rebate analysts, health plan analysts, data engineers, and software engineers, effectively framing language appropriately to each audience.
- Standardize and automate: Identify opportunities to streamline intake, setup, validation, and reporting; champion automation within Smart Contracts Manager and supporting tooling to reduce manual effort and variability.
- Manage work through triaging and delegation: Structure scopes, distinguish roles, and remove ambiguity to simultaneously maintain and advance tooling capabilities while continuing to offer strong support to clients throughout the rebate lifecycle process.
- Drive continuous improvement: Capture client needs, issues, and enhancement requests; prioritize and communicate each to product and engineering with clear business context and measurable definitions of success.
- Elevate transparency and control: Implement and refine playbooks, templates, SLAs, and QA controls to increase predictability, auditability, and compliance across the rebate lifecycle.
How success is defined
- Client Management and Retention: High satisfaction and on‑time quarterly business reviews; renewals and expansions tied to delivered value.
- Project Delivery and Quality: Milestones delivered on schedule and to spec with audit‑ready documentation and clear traceability.
- Issue Resolution and Stability: Fast response and closure, documented root causes and preventive actions, SLA adherence.
- Process Standardization/Automation: Greater tool/capability adoption with measurable reductions in manual effort and cycle times.
- Cross‑Functional Alignment: Clear requirements, accurate handoffs, stable releases, and positive stakeholder feedback.
- Task & Portfolio Management: Reliable forecasting and capacity control across clients/workstreams; disciplined risk/RAID management.
- Product Collaboration and Impact: Client needs converted into well‑scoped roadmap items with demonstrable adoption and time savings.
- Team Development and Knowledge: Mentorship that improves quality and reduces rework; cross‑training team members for additional visibility and coverage.
- Compliance, Controls, and Data Stewardship: Defensible logic, decision logs, and adherence to contract and 340B/claims rules.
- Industry Involvement: Visible contributions that support business development and inform product strategy.
Required skills and experience
- 5+ years in product/project or account management for SaaS/data products; managed care or manufacturer background required; PBM strongly preferred.
- Rebate operations expertise demonstrated through coordination, analyzing, and validating rebate reports and payment allocations across billing periods.
- Deep knowledge of adjudication workflows and manufacturer rebate T&Cs; NCPDP Telecommunication and X12 (837) standards; 340B considerations (preferred).
- Working knowledge of drug reimbursement and pricing, including WAC, AWP, ASP, discounts, rebates, admin fees, and related pricing mechanics.
- Comfortable with large healthcare datasets (medical/pharmacy claims, enrollment, clinical, contract, financial); advanced Excel; Agile/Jira/Confluence.
- Publishing clear requirements and acceptance criteria, participating in design reviews, and validating releases to ensure accuracy and auditability.
- Translate across engineers/analysts/clients; mentor analysts; standardize/automate workflows with QA controls to reduce cycle time.
