The Opportunity

We are seeking a senior backend software engineer with 6 to 8+ years of professional experience to join our Engineering team.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a pragmatic environment—capable of reducing scope smartly, guiding junior developers, and proposing maintainable and efficient implementation approaches that deliver value fast.

What we are looking for

  • 6–8+ years of backend development experience with production-grade systems.

  • Strong hands-on expertise in: Ruby, Rails, Go, APIs (REST, GraphQL), Kafka, PostgreSQL,

  • Expert in distributed systems, microservices, and serverless patterns

  • Proven ability to guide junior engineers and set technical direction within project scope.

  • Skilled at identifying and proposing trade-offs and reducing complexity/scope while maintaining quality.

  • Experience working within and around established backend architectures.

  • Ability to propose streamlined development strategies that align with budget and timeline constraints.

  • Pragmatic mindset with strong understanding of performance, maintainability, and readability.

  • Comfortable contributing to and consuming technical documentation and architectural decisions.

  • Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and clarity in communication.

  • Familiarity with front end technologies (Typescript, React) is a plus

  • Fluent in English.

Your responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers and Product Owners to translate requirements into effective, efficient, and maintainable implementations.

  • Ensure code quality, reliability, and performance through thoughtful development practices, including unit testing and documentation.

  • Align your work with existing architectural patterns and decisions, integrating cleanly into the established software ecosystem.

  • Document and communicate your work clearly to support smooth deployment, knowledge sharing, and ongoing maintenance.

  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on timely, high-impact outcomes.

  • Participate in demos and sprint reviews, ensuring transparent delivery and technical alignment.

  • Where appropriate, mentor junior backend developers, sharing best practices and guiding implementation decisions.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce scope or streamline implementation without sacrificing user value or maintainability.
