About the role

At the Unbabel Innovation team, we are currently developing a new product under the Center for Responsible AI project: a High Risk assessment and Management module. This High Risk module will allow a customer from the medical domain, specifically from the pharma industry, to understand and manage the translation quality and the regulatory compliance requirements for their translations. We aim to empower our customers with the necessary tools to assess if their translations are of high quality and compliant with authority regulations (e.g. EMA) in areas like pharma leaflets publication, for example, where an error may have critical consequences and even endanger people’s lives.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the operational part of linguistic analysis tasks and support the team in such analysis

• Perform data collection and data quality annotations in medical domains

• Explore compliance regulations for specific medical domains, namely pharma in agreement with authority regulations (e.g. EMA)

• Align with customers from medical domains

• Participate in research activities and productization of the High Risk assessment and Management module

Requirements:

• This position requires a senior linguist or translator with experience with customers in medical domains

• Relevant BSc degree or MA in the areas of Linguistics, Computational Linguistics and/or Translation Studies. Background in the medical area (pharma/clinical trials/medical devices/Life Sciences) is highly preferred

• Previous experience in technical translation of medical domains, namely pharma, medical devices, and clinical trials

• Interest in Translation Quality evaluation methodologies (metrics and quality standards)

• High verbal and written communication in English (C1-2 CEFR Level)

• High verbal and written communication in German (C1-2 CEFR Level)

• Preferably with knowledge in another language other than English and the native language

• Strong communication skills

• An analytical mind with problem-solving abilities

• Self-motivated, eager to learn and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
