We are now seeking a Director of Business Intelligence & Data Engineering to architect, optimize, and scale our data ecosystem—driving strategic decision-making, enhancing client insights, and maximizing business impact.

About the Role

As the Director of BI & Data Engineering, you will play a critical role in shaping our data strategy, ensuring high-quality analytics, and building scalable infrastructure that powers business intelligence across the company. You will:

  • Own and evolve our data architecture: Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL pipelines to centralize data from platforms like Mixpanel, Google Analytics, and Firestore into BigQuery.
  • Define and implement BI strategy: Develop robust Looker dashboards and analytical frameworks that provide executive-level insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with leadership, product, engineering, and business teams to understand key metrics, translate data into meaningful business actions, and drive efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity and governance: Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, validation, security, and performance monitoring.
  • Turn complex data into actionable insights: Deliver compelling data narratives that drive strategic initiatives and high-impact client reporting.
  • Innovate and optimize: Identify and implement automation opportunities, improve data accessibility, and future-proof our analytics infrastructure.
  • Define and implement BI strategy: Proactively identify gaps in data, uncover new insights, and develop novel ways to measure success that drive business impact.
  • Own and establish a data-driven decision-making culture: ​​Take ownership of defining and prioritizing key business insights, ensuring we measure what truly matters rather than just what’s available.

Your Expertise & Leadership
Technical Mastery

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in SQL, ETL pipeline development, and data engineering.
  • Expertise in data warehousing solutions, preferably BigQuery, and cloud technologies (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
  • Deep proficiency with Looker or equivalent BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) to create scalable, high-impact reporting solutions.
  • Strong experience integrating data from Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and other analytics platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages for automation, data workflows, and advanced analytics.

Strategic & Business Intelligence Acumen

  • Proven experience translating complex data into executive-level insights that drive business strategy.
  • Expertise in defining, measuring, and evolving KPIs, success metrics, and forecasting models.
  • Strong understanding of data storytelling, stakeholder communication, and executive reporting.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Track record of mentoring teams, influencing stakeholders, and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including C-suite executives.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a passion for building scalable, efficient data solutions.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Logz.io, Sentry, or other logging and monitoring tools.
  • Background in agile methodologies and experience working in fast-paced startup environments.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models for predictive analytics (a plus but not required).
