Scopely is seeking a QA Director located in our Barcelona studio to lead an ambitious, multi-faceted and continuously growing QA Program across Scopely’s portfolio of titles.The successful candidate will own the execution, growth for the initiatives part of QA programs for our projects around the globe and with each game team and development partner.

The QA Director will partner in collaborating and coordinating with peers and senior management to ensure operations are aligned with the company mission, values, and long-term strategic goals as well as ensuring continued service improvements are implemented throughout the world on behalf of Scopely QA & Deployment.
It is a key position with high expectations on driving high impacts.

The QA Director will help shape the future on how we continue to iterate and evolve our QA operations in deep partnership with game teams, to achieve high levels of execution efficiency while ensuring our products delight our users release after release though high quality of the player experience.

What You Will Do:

  • Be a key leader in an ambitious and continuously growing QA Program involving multiple disciplines, including Functionality QA, Dev QA and LiveOps QA.
  • Lead the evolution of a centralized DevQA program to support high quality game development on multiple platforms, across internal and external teams.
  • Define and champion QA best practices across the full development lifecycle, from concept to live Ops, enabling a shift left testing culture
  • Establish strong internal and ex-dev QA workflows, ensuring that all content developed meets internal quality standards.
  • Provide leadership, technical expertise and career development for multiple QA Leaders, each of which are responsible for their own specific projects; support the growth of the discipline, leading to higher value individual contributors and managers.
  • Build on existing team metrics for measurement of quality and operational excellence and a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvements
  • Build successful working relationships with external developer counterparts with a focus on Dev QA collaboration
  • Be forward thinking and actively explore AI-driven QA solutions and emerging technologies to incorporate to the existing processes in order to future proof release quality.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication with cross-functional teams across all disciplines for both internal and external development and QA partners.
  • Continually improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the QA effort by assessing current practices and incorporating new strategies.
  • Be an internal advocate and spokesperson for all things QA, specially as it relates to DevQA. Clearly communicate issues, risks, concerns, and successes to stakeholders about current production/QA workflows.
  • Hold fellow leaders accountable for including quality as an essential factor in product development
  • Contribute directly to performance evaluations of individuals and teams, compiling objective feedback that is channeled toward both personal and process improvement.
  • Responsible for process Improvement; ownership of defining new processes and refining old processes.

What You Will Need:

  • 9 + years quality assurance professional
  • 4 + years management experience in leading QA teams and groups
  • Proven experience leading DevQA
  • Proven experience of working within a development game team
  • Experience in building a QA and DevQA organization that is responsible for end-to-end validation for a critical system or application
  • Deep ability to influence change that achieves exceptional product quality
  • Deep understanding of cross platform and multiplatform titles (mobile, PC, Consoles)
  • Experience working on AAA titles
  • Experience in working with remote teams and working with a cross functional team that is distributed around the globe.
  • Deep cultural awareness and ability to work with varied teams across the globe
  • Excellent written/verbal communication in English, planning, implementation, project/ people management, time management, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience and ease in interfacing with Senior Management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure of hard deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software testing, software QA processes, software development processes, change management and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence those not directly in your reporting structure, working to develop and maintain strong, effective relationships across the organization.
  • Strong understanding of software development (SDLC) practices & nomenclature
  • Deep understanding of quality assurance techniques, frameworks and methodologies
  • Flexible and dynamic – quickly adapt to changing needs of the business.
  • Business awareness - the ability to view situations from a business perspective.
  • Strong meeting organization and facilitation skills.
