Cloud Architect (Azure)

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor on internal strategic initiatives by providing objective, practical and relevant ideas, insights and advice while also building organizational partnerships and networks to ensure comprehensive solutions are developed with input from appropriate resources
  • The infrastructure architect will document and establish standards for supported hosting platforms
  • Document hosting requirements and produce infrastructure build plans
  • Create topology diagrams for applications and hosting platforms
  • Envision, develop, prove, and recommend innovative solutions meeting current and future business requirements
  • Define, document, publish and governance of platform hosting standards
  • Will work in the evaluation of new technologies and platforms
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement process improvements, methodologies, and/or strategies based on organization goals and business needs
  • Develop and recommend design solutions
  • Will lead in the development of cloud driven hosting models leveraging hybrid clouds, evaluation, implementation IaaS and PaaS solutions to help deliver infrastructure at the pace of development needs
  • Assist in the adoption of DevOps delivery model
  • Plan, organize, and control multiple responsibilities to achieve project objectives; technically guide projects through to completion

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft platform technologies
  • Experience in IaaS and PaaS implementations covering monitoring, configuration management, and orchestration
  • Knowledge of web concepts, infrastructure technologies and tools
  • Knowledge of cloud, container, and micro services architectures
  • Demonstrated experience working on projects that span multiple IT functions where analysis of systems or data requires an in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
  • Experience working across a matrixed environment
  • Experience with the following: Firewalls/Security Groups, DNS Routing, VM Configuration, Security Administration (IAM, etc.), Implement Infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Hands-On experience in Kubernetes and its administration
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
  • 6+ years of experience in the design and implementation of complex IT solutions (including scalable cloud-based solutions)
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design and implementation of complex IT solutions as Technology Architect
  • In-depth knowledge of Cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications), security best practices, and automation technologies to deliver end-to-end Cloud Infrastructure architectures and designs
  • Ability to articulate the technical merits and business value of cloud computing, as well as experience leading cultural change for cloud adoption and coordinating cloud adoption processes
  • In-depth knowledge of Infrastructure as Code development/implementation
  • Understanding of strategic technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to new/evolving business and operating models
  • Extensive experience providing client consulting and leadership to solve complex business problems with enterprise-grade IT solutions, utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, existing system designs, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with business case financial analysis, Total Cost of Ownership, and cost management strategies
  • Experience performing gap analysis and developing IT investment roadmaps that reflect current and proposed state of existing IT infrastructure and its ability to contribute to business capabilities
  • Advanced technology and strategic business acumen, as well as a demonstrated ability to engage in senior level technology discussions related to IT strategic investment decisions
  • Proven ability to manage and work with external vendors, including vendor selection, evaluation, and contract evaluation
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills, as well as analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills and track record of taking on ownership in area of responsibility
