The Opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead and scale Konnecto's engineering organization in Israel.
This role is responsible for the success, growth, and effectiveness of the engineering team while ensuring strong alignment with Product and business priorities.
The team already consists of experienced engineers, established products, and a mature technology stack. The focus of this role is not to build an engineering organization from scratch, but to help it scale effectively as the company continues to grow.
You will be responsible for developing engineers, improving execution, supporting technical decision making, expanding the team, and helping the organization successfully navigate the next phase of growth.
The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership, technical credibility, operational excellence, and a pragmatic approach to software delivery.
What You'll Own
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team through regular coaching, feedback, career development, and performance management.
- Create an environment where engineers can perform at a high level, grow professionally, and take ownership of their work.
- Support hiring efforts, interviewing, onboarding, and team expansion initiatives.
- Help scale the Israeli R&D organization while maintaining strong engagement, motivation, and professional growth across the team.
Delivery & Execution
- Partner closely with Product leadership to translate business goals and roadmap priorities into engineering execution plans.
- Drive planning, prioritization, estimation, and delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Ensure engineering commitments are delivered with high quality and predictable execution.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and execution challenges early and drive solutions proactively.
- Improve team effectiveness, development velocity, and operational efficiency as the organization grows.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance across architecture, system design, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in major architectural discussions and technical decision-making processes.
- Support engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical mentoring, and problem-solving.
- Help balance short-term product needs with long-term scalability, maintainability, and platform health.
- Partner with engineering teams to identify opportunities for improving reliability, performance, observability, and operational excellence.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work closely with Product, QA, Design, Data Engineering, BI, and DevOps stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of company objectives.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Act as the primary engineering representative in planning, prioritization, and execution discussions.
- Help align technical decisions with broader business goals and strategic initiatives.

Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 4+ years of engineering leadership or people management experience.
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams in fast-moving product organizations.
- Strong understanding of modern backend architectures, distributed systems, and software development practices.
- Experience managing roadmap execution and cross-functional delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience balancing technical quality, business priorities, and delivery timelines.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and decision-making abilities.
- High ownership mentality with a pragmatic and execution-oriented approach.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-driven products or machine learning platforms.
- Experience with large-scale data processing systems and analytics platforms.
- Experience scaling engineering organizations during periods of rapid growth.
