Ozow is looking for a creative, curious, and ambitious Junior Digital Designer to join our growing Marketing team. This role is ideal for someone at the start of their design career who wants to sharpen their craft, learn from experienced designers, and help shape the visual experience of one of South Africa’s leading fintech brands.
This is a junior, growth-focused role where you’ll be supported by senior designers and given hands-on opportunities to learn, build confidence, and develop your skills in a fast-paced fintech environment.
As a Junior Digital Designer, you’ll create digital assets across web, product, social, and marketing platforms, and collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers, and the broader brand team to deliver polished, user-centric work.
Your role and responsibilities
Digital Design & Visual Production
- Create digital assets for web, mobile, and marketing channels, including UI elements, icons, banners, animations, and social media graphics.
- Roll out creative concepts into polished outputs across multiple formats and screen sizes.
- Develop visual content for campaigns, product launches, and user education materials.
Collaboration Across Teams
- Work with product managers, engineers, and brand specialists to clarify briefs and deliver technically feasible designs aligned to business goals.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas.
- Partner with marketing to produce visual content for email, social, paid media, and landing pages.
Brand & Design System
- Help maintain and update Ozow’s digital design guidelines and component libraries.
- Ensure brand consistency across all platforms.
- Prepare organised design files for cross-functional teams.
Research & Concept Development
- Research design and social media trends, UI patterns, competitors, and best practices.
- Contribute ideas in brainstorming sessions.
- Explore animation, micro-interactions, and digital storytelling.
Asset & File Management
- Prepare production-ready files with correct formatting, versioning, and documentation.
- Maintain shared folders, asset libraries, and templates.
- Ensure assets meet visual, accessibility, and platform standards.
Continuous Learning & Development
- Stay up to date with tools, techniques, and fintech design trends.
- Actively learn from senior designers through mentorship, feedback, and hands-on projects.
You are an ideal candidate if you have
- 1-2 years’ experience as a Digital Designer or similar role (internships and freelance work count).
- A strong portfolio featuring web, social, branding, or conceptual projects.
- A passion for digital design and marketing.
- Strong attention to detail across typography, spacing, alignment, and visual hierarchy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, self-starter mindset.
- Working knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Thrive in structured, well-organised environments and enjoy working within clear processes.
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and be mentored by more senior designers.
Bonus points for familiarity with
- Motion/animation tools (After Effects, Premiere Pro)
- Print design and preparing artwork for print
- Basic HTML/CSS understanding
