The Data Science and Analytics (DSA) department is hiring a Manager, Data Analytics to lead a team responsible for analyzing end-user/operational data, preparing data for advanced analytics treatment, and a range of data quality and enhancement activities. As a leader within the core analytics function, you’ll influence MX’s product roadmap using your business acumen, decision quality, operational planning, and knack for thinking about future possibilities and generating ideas. Moreover, your staff will support data science modeling work and be responsible for describing how people use our products. You’ll develop data-driven insights that improve decision-making, investments, and execution within our product suite, and work cross-functionally with colleagues from the product, research, design, and engineering teams. Like all members of the DSA team, you’ll also work closely with data engineering and business technology to burnish and defend the integrity of our data culture. The ability to inspire, develop, and manage staff is essential, as are solid project management skills and a talent for transforming data and analytic results into digestible and engaging stories.

Job Duties

  • Build, develop, and manage a high-performing team of 5-8 data analysts through direct coaching and mentorship focused on analytical methods, statistics, product and operational analytics, data visualization, storytelling, and personal career development

  • Lead the creation of new features to enhance MX’s world-class classification and categorization engine

  • Working with MX’s data scientists, support a wide range of advanced analytics/modeling work focused on bank deposits and consumer behaviors

  • Support core data engine functionality, including creating/updating system transaction rules, validating model prediction, system performance evaluation, and data/code audits

  • Develop metrics to measure product reach/effectiveness and user sentiment

  • Collaborate closely with product leaders to understand how MX products are used in the marketplace and provide recommendations to increase impact and engagement

  • Collaborate with the DSA leadership team to guide roadmap development and prioritization

  • Lead the design and creation of new data assets and drive data initiatives beyond our current product portfolio

  • Deliver presentations and memoranda to communicate key findings to colleagues and senior leaders

  • Act as operational manager on some key initiatives and fill the Scrum Master role for weekly planning ceremonies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (with quantitative coursework), Master’s degree preferred

  • Professional background likely to include (a) 4+ years of “hands-on” experience in data analytics and (b) 2+ years of experience managing an analytics team

  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python coupled with broad exposure to dashboards and data visualization methods, descriptive and inferential statistics, and data quality analyses; prior exposure to cloud or distributed data warehouses would also be helpful

  • Critical thinking skills, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to keep looking for better solutions and to ask difficult questions about our current approaches

  • Drive to tackle demanding goals with enthusiasm, tenacity in the face of stubborn obstacles, and interest in pursuing personal and technical development alongside other commitments

  • Commitment to client needs and satisfaction, humility in the face of constructive feedback, and production of high-quality work that builds trust and confidence with stakeholders

  • Passion for mentoring, solid communication and managerial skills enabling cross-functional collaboration

  • Present findings and answer technical questions for external clients and support revenue in client calls

Work Environment

At MX, we utilize a hybrid work model, which allows us to attract top talent and increase impact through collaboration. Our team members enjoy a balance of remote work and in-office days. Travel expectations for remote employees is about 15%, and the company covers travel expenses for remote employees. Local employees will utilize in-office time on a weekly basis Tuesday through Thursday. Both local and remote employees can take advantage of our incredible office space with onsite perks like company-paid meals, onsite massage therapist, golf simulator, barber, and meditation room to name a few.

Compensation

The expected on-target earnings (OTE), which is comprised of a base salary and other forms of cash compensation, such as bonus or commissions is currently $129,500 to $155,000.

This pay range is just one component of MX's total rewards package. MX takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location, skillset, peer compensation.
