Technical Program Manager

Reporting to: Head of Program Management Office, CTO Org

Job Summary

This role will be critical to the successful implementation of processes and technologies enabling engineering and product to deliver against strategic business objectives. In this role, you will be an integrator and enabler for better decision-making, helping business leaders apply resources to the right outcomes at the right time, focusing the organization on work that matters and serving as the glue that keeps the organization aligned in times of change. Day to day work includes developing program governance, maintaining execution best practices, facilitating data driven decision making from goal setting to EOL, and resolving complex roadblocks to ensure successful execution against set goals.

This role will require the driving of alignment across cross functional technical and non-technical teams.

Job Duties

  • Portfolio management: Align cross functional teams on strategic goals, create program roadmaps, determine evaluation criteria, manage and monitor program performance.
  • Capacity planning: partner with engineering leaders to forecast demand by program, develop skills inventory, and ensure capacity is correctly allocated to achieve business goals.
  • Agile planning adoption: Provide training, coaching and guidance to delivery teams on best agile practices.
  • Manage program plans: Create program plans which define resource requirements, dependencies, budget, risks and execution timeline
  • Performance and risk management: Ensure programs are performing against set metrics, risks are identified and mitigated, and established processes are followed.
  • Organizing and presenting data: Defining and presenting objectives, key performance indicators, risks, decisions and status to varying levels of stakeholders.
  • Adoption of program management standards:
    • Drive within program and cross program execution, status communication, and brings continued visibility to the program.
    • Lead daily/weekly stand up and drive root cause, problem categorization and identification of actions to prevent recurring issues
    • Ensure accuracy in regard to proper prioritization, planning and execution of deliverables. Baseline and improve engineering deliverable say/do ratio
    • Work collaboratively with business management, product, engineering, and other teams to understand business requirements, align stakeholder expectations, engage with business for program roles and responsibilities, update stakeholders on program progress, and manage program risks and dependencies.

Job Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • At least 5-10 years of experience in portfolio and program management and considerable knowledge of program management software tools and management techniques
    • Technical background including architecture, networking and mobile services
    • Experience driving large scale, complex programs from planning through implementation
    • Expertise in defining key metrics, tracking executable work to metrics and reporting on metrics across technical and non-technical audiences and a variety of leadership levels
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Experience leading diverse teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting operations, businesses, functions, or equivalent
    • Ability to effectively work and communicate with individuals from all levels of the organization
    • Excellent organizational, conflict management and issue resolution skills
  • Outcome-driven:
    • Ability to effectively work and lead under pressure to meet tight deadlines and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity in an environment of active change
  • Critical-thinking and business acumen:
    • Strong strategic thinking with excellent program management and leadership skills
    • Analytical thinker with the ability to define and utilize quantitative and qualitative management information or transactional reports to identify key trends and tie to larger strategic business objectives
  • Systems & Tools:
    • Strong software skills (Clarizen, Gitlab, JIRA, Confluence)
    • Demonstrated experience leading implementation of multiple complex programs, with an understanding of systems development lifecycles, business analysis, and requirements processes
  • This position required sitting, typing, and repetitive motions

Advanced Requirements (Prior experience and familiarity in some of the following is a plus, but not required)

  • 3+ years’ experience in financial services, corporate, or investment banking industry is preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in a technical role including but not limited to TechOps, SRE, DevOps, Networking Engineer.
  • Experience designing, delivering or managing Mobile based programs

Compensation

The expected on-target earnings (OTE), which is comprised of a base salary and other forms of cash compensation, such as bonus or commissions is currently

$110,500 to $132,750.

This pay range is just one component of MX's total rewards package. MX takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location, skillset, and peer compensation.
