Commercial Finance Manager

About Taxually
Taxually is a B2B SaaS tax-compliance platform operating across 105+ jurisdictions and 12 legal entities. With marquee partners, and one of Europe's largest financial investors among its shareholders, the business is preparing for its next phase over the coming 12 months. Your future colleagues: a small, high-output team working in close cooperation with management and running multiple transformation projects at once.
Role & Team
This is a mid-level role with real ownership from day one. You will own our order-to-cash cycle end to end, as the person accountable for the cash actually arriving, within a Commercial Finance team that also runs budgeting, forecasting, FP&A and revenue strategy. You will work alongside Controlling, the Finance Data & Reporting lead, Sales, Customer Success and our country tax teams.
The order-to-cash cycle here is being rebuilt around automation rather than headcount, so a meaningful part of the job is governing the AR agent and the reporting layer that sit underneath it. For someone who turns the work into systems rather than keeping it in their head, the path to Commercial Finance Deputy is 12-18 months.
Our finance team is proud to be a proactive and reliable partner to the business units and to management. We work in an international setting, and we use and co-build AI and technology solutions to simplify processes and improve efficiency. We value commitment, competence and consistency, and we give our team members a high degree of freedom to shape and develop our future together.
What you will do
- Own order-to-cash. Accounts receivable and collections end to end: invoice issue, cash application, ageing, dunning, escalation and resolution. You carry the overdue balance and DSO.
- Collect with judgment. Prioritise by cash impact rather than by alphabet. Run escalation paths that recover the money while protecting the commercial relationship, and distinguish a credit problem from a billing problem from a service problem.
- Fix disputes at root cause. Trace recurring billing errors back to the contract, the registration or the system that created them, and get the upstream fix made, rather than closing the gap with a credit note each month.
- Govern the automation. Act as business owner of the AR agent and related workflows: define the exception rules, decide which accounts it must never touch, validate its output on a set cadence, and widen its coverage as it earns trust.
- Report and forecast. Produce ageing, DSO, collection-effectiveness and cash-collection forecasts that management can act on, and build out the AR analytics layer on our data warehouse with the Finance Data & Reporting lead.
- Close the loop with Controlling. Deliver clean AR and collections records into the monthly close and the annual audit: a reconciled sub-ledger, a supported provision and documented judgment.
- Partner commercially. Work day to day with Sales, Customer Success and the country tax teams, and hold your position with them when the number is right.
- Take on ticketing. Progressively assume ownership of finance ticketing on an agent-first model.
What we are looking for
Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field.
- Fluent English and Hungarian. Another European language is a plus but not mandatory.
Experience
What you need
- 3+ years of relevant experience in finance, operations or a business-facing role, with a strong understanding of how a business earns, bills and collects its revenue.
- Genuine curiosity about AI agents and workflow automation.
- Advanced Excel.
What sets you apart
- Collections experience with business customers, including aged and disputed balances, and a track record of actually recovering them.
- Comfortable with AR sub-ledger to GL reconciliation, ageing and bad-debt provisioning: you can hand a controller something they can rely on.
- Billing exposure in a subscription or usage-based model (recurring versus one-off charges, prorations, renewals, credit notes) and a feel for what makes an invoice wrong.
- Working knowledge of a cloud accounting or billing system (Xero, NetSuite, Chargebee, Stripe Billing or comparable) and a BI tool (Power BI or similar).
- CRM exposure (HubSpot, Salesforce).
- Hands-on experience with AI agents or workflow automation.
- A SaaS, technology or scale-up background.
Personal attributes
- Proactivity. You bring problems forward with a proposed answer attached. You surface the things nobody asked about (a drift in payment terms, a recurring billing error, a pattern in the ageing) and act on them rather than waiting for the instruction.
- Tenacity. You follow a balance to the end. You keep a structured, dated chase running through silence, deflection and internal friction, and you escalate deliberately rather than either giving up or going nuclear. You are comfortable being the person who asks for the fourth time.
- Analytical mindset. You turn a messy ledger into a short, clear view of where the cash is and what to do first.
- High-output. You are comfortable in a dynamic, small team focused on achievement rather than corporate politics, and happy to do the routine work yourself while keeping the wider picture in view.
- Commercial judgment. You understand that a customer is a relationship as well as a receivable, and you can hold both at once.
- AI-positive. You treat automation and AI as genuine levers, and expect to use, govern and help develop the AR agent and the reporting layer.
Why this role, why now
As the cycle is being rebuilt around automation, the person in this seat shapes it rather than inherits it, and the path to Commercial Finance Deputy is 12-18 months, not five years.
