About Landing

Landing rents fully furnished apartments for a month or more, in hundreds of cities across the US. Every apartment is ready to live in and backed by 24/7 local support. We handle everything for property owners, from furnishing to turnover, so we control the whole experience.

Most people still find Landing through a search bar. That's changing. The next guest will ask Claude or ChatGPT where to live in Denver for three months, or hand the job to their personal agent, and may book without ever visiting our site. We're hiring our first designer to build for that guest, and for whatever comes next.

About the role

• Design how Landing shows up, gets chosen, and gets booked inside AI assistants.
• Design for surfaces we don't own: messaging apps, AI assistants, and the personal agents that book on a guest's behalf. You work within their rules and still make it feel like Landing.
• Rebuild search and booking around conversations and decisions instead of filters, with real empathy for someone figuring out where to live.
• Design the stay itself: arrival, the unit, and the help guests need once they're in.
• Build the brand, the design system, and the front end.
• Hire and grow the design team when it's time.

How you work

• You prototype in code, usually with AI. Figma is optional.
• You ship to production.
• You pick the problem, make the call, and check whether it worked.
• You talk to guests. You stay in a unit.

About you

• Have a taste you can explain. You can say why an interaction works, where it breaks, and what would make it much better.
• Have a point of view on AI interfaces. You're experimenting with conversational, adaptive, and proactive patterns, and you know where they help and where they're a gimmick. You don't need years of AI work. You need to be building with it now.
• Can win without a screen. You've designed for text, WhatsApp, Claude, or ChatGPT, and you're thinking about what happens when a guest's agent does the searching, comparing, and booking.
• Think in systems. You see the patterns behind the screens and turn one great solution into something reusable without making everything look the same.
• Start with the question. You frame messy problems, figure out what's worth learning first, form a view with incomplete information, and know which ideas are worth fighting for.
• Have craft everywhere. Interaction, information architecture, writing, visual, and motion. Words are part of the design. You've designed something physical, not just a screen.
• Partner as a peer. You shape strategy with product, engineering, and GTM, share unfinished work, understand technical tradeoffs, and make the people around you better.

Especially relevant

Consumer or AI product work, strong prototyping, deep motion and interaction skills, and design systems experience. We care more about how you think than about checking every box.
