The Chief Data Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our data strategy, ensuring that data-driven insights are integrated seamlessly into our products and business decisions and developing partnerships that can drive business results through data exchange. Reporting to the CTO, the CDO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of data management, governance, analytics, and the development of advanced data-driven capabilities. As the key leader for data-related matters, the CDO will collaborate closely with executive teams, product managers, data engineers, data scientists, partners and other stakeholders to unlock the full potential of our data resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Strategy and Governance:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the company's vision and objectives.
  • Establish data governance policies, processes, and standards to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Define data access controls and permissions to safeguard sensitive information.

Data Architecture and Infrastructure:

  • Oversee the design and maintenance of scalable and efficient data infrastructure and systems that support data ingestion, storage, processing, and retrieval.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and platforms to optimize data management, analytics and exchange/interoperability capabilities.

Data Analytics and Insights:

  • Drive the development and deployment of data analytics frameworks, models, and methodologies to extract meaningful insights from vast amounts of data.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to enhance predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI capabilities to improve advertising performance.

Data-Driven Product Development:

  • Work closely with product managers and development teams to embed data-driven features and functionalities into existing and upcoming products.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation through data analytics, leading to enhanced user experiences and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop strategies and partnerships that leverage the exchange of data to drive business outcomes.

Data Privacy and Security:

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement robust security measures to protect sensitive customer data and intellectual property.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs, align priorities, and drive the adoption of data-driven insights throughout the organization.
  • Communicate complex data concepts and findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders, empowering data-driven decision-making at all levels.

*Pursuant to New York City's Pay Transparency Law the pay range for this position is $207,000-261,000; base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in a data-focused leadership role within the SaaS or digital advertising industry.
  • Strong background in data management, data governance, data analytics, and data architecture.
  • Familiarity with advertising technology, programmatic advertising, and digital marketing concepts.
  • Extensive experience with data tools and technologies such as SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Tableau, etc.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing data-driven strategies that have resulted in measurable business growth.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
