The Role
As a Senior Engineering Manager at Amperity, you will help build a high-trust engineering team that create the latest solutions to complex challenges with customer impact. You’re passionate about ensuring customer success by ensuring our technology meets their needs and inspires value where it matters most. You'll be invested in the development of your engineers, providing mentorship and creating an environment where individuals excel. You believe great teams are built on collaboration, psychological safety, and a shared experience solving meaningful problems.
We're looking for someone who brings both technical depth and leadership expertise. You enjoy diving into technical challenges, especially those involving large-scale data systems, cloud-native infrastructure, and distributed processing technologies like Spark, Kubernetes, Kafka and others. You collaborate with other engineering leaders to guide best practices, promote a culture of learning, and ensure we're building technology that not only meets our customers’ needs but shapes the future of customer data management. You show curiosity, innovation, and by taking accountability for delivering high-quality results that improve our business.
You will report to the SVP, Engineering.
Interesting Problems
At Amperity, we solve some of the most challenging and impactful technical problems in customer data management. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team working on:
- Ingest and process massive volumes of data daily, blending batch and real-time events to create accurate, comprehensive customer profiles.
- Training machine-learning models to build customer knowledge graphs, that stitch together data from different systems to provide a unified view of each customer while improving algorithms for accuracy and efficiency.
- Turn modern research algorithms into reliable, high-scale production systems, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in data processing and analytics through rapid iterative development and optimization.
- Empower users with complex, real-time querying capabilities, helping them obtain meaningful insights from aggregated data.
- Build deep integrations with industry-leading platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, and several paid-media connectors, ensuring our solutions fit into the broader data ecosystem.
- Deliver enriched data assets and insights to diverse systems, allowing our clients to unlock new value from their data.
- Create intuitive, powerful user experiences that help our customers create insights, and measure results.
- Build and nurturing, teams that support each other across a distributed working environment, embodying our values of trust, innovation, courage, and accountability.
About You
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing guidance that helps engineers grow and succeed.
- Inspired by building a great place to work for your team, promoting collaboration, inclusivity, and empathy.
- Experienced engineering leader with 5 or more years of management experience.
- Passionate about building empowered, autonomous, and psychologically safe teams that improve their ways of working.
- Focus on and a willingness to dive into issues alongside engineers as they arise.
- Software development expertise, with over 10 years of experience working on big data systems, large-scale distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native technologies. Includes hands-on engineering work within the past five years and delivering at SaaS scale.
- Oversee complex projects involving cross-team collaboration with customers, product management, and engineering.
- Desire to investigate new technologies through practical, hands-on exploration.
Location
Seattle, WA
Our hybrid work model includes three days in the office each week, providing a mix of in-person collaboration and remote flexibility
Compensation
Base Salary: $190,000 - $260,000. Within our pay range, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, experience, and education/training.
Cash Incentives: Cash incentives are also available.
Stock Options: The opportunity for ownership is an exciting part of Amperity’s total compensation package. Every employee at Amperity receives a new-hire equity grant, commensurate with the scope of their position.
