Job Summary
Senior Platform Automation Engineer is a mid level role focused on leading efforts to improve test automation, build robust testing frameworks, and ensure the quality and performance of platform systems. Engineers in this role actively participate in coding, testing, and code reviews while improving applications and processes for scalability and efficiency. This position also involves mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Essential Job Functions
Design, develop, and implement quality engineering practices for financial technology solutions. Develop and maintain test frameworks to ensure consistent and efficient testing across the enterprise. Contribute to improving automation frameworks to ensure maintainable and scalable test automation for the platform. - (15%)
Define and enforce testing standards, automation strategies, and best practices across the SDLC. Analyze and address complex problems, performance bottlenecks, and quality gaps in systems to enhance software efficiency and robustness. Develop and maintain tools for generating, managing, and cleaning test data across environments to support both automated and manual tests. - (15%)
Integrate testing tools and frameworks into the CI/CD pipeline, focusing on automating testing within the build and deployment process. - (15%)
Design, develop and maintain automated test environments and data solutions to ensure system reliability and predictability, providing value-stream aligned engineering teams with the necessary tools for success. - (15%)
Collaborate with quality engineering, product, and business teams to support best practices in test-driven development (TDD) and automation. Mentor and assist junior engineers in adopting automation practices and test methodologies. - (10%)
Develop and maintain tools for performance, load, and stress testing, ensuring they support real-world traffic and use cases. Work alongside infrastructure teams to help configure testing environments that generate scalable load and measure system response. - (10%)
Demonstrate expertise in at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python) and contribute to the design and execution of automated testing frameworks for mission-critical applications. Assist in platform quality engineering, particularly within financial technology, payment systems, and cloud environments. - (10%)
Support the adoption of emerging testing technologies, ensuring alignment with the company’s innovation and quality engineering strategy. - (10%)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related area.
5+ years of work experience in a related field such as Software Engineering, DevSecOps, or Quality Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of work experience in a related field such as Software Engineering, DevSecOps, or Quality Engineering.

Work Environment
Normal office environment. (Remote or Hybrid), 3 to 4 days per month are required in office if within 60 miles of a posted Bread Financial location.

Salary Range (unless otherwise noted below):
$120,500.00 - $218,300.00Full Salary Range for position:
California: $138,600.00 - $272,900.00Colorado: $120,500.00 - $229,200.00New York: $132,500.00 - $272,900.00Washington: $126,500.00 - $251,100.00Maryland: $126,500.00 - $240,200.00Washington DC: $138,600.00 - $251,100.00Illinois: $120,500.00 - $240,200.00New Jersey: $138,600.00 - $251,100.00Vermont: $120,500.00 - $218,300.00Ohio: $120,500.00 - $218,300.00The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.
Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
