The big picture: Axios is a media company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring a Senior Director, Head of Local Client Success to lead the pre-sale and post-sale function for our Local Client Success team!

Why it matters: The Client Success team at Axios provides end-to-end support for new and existing accounts, delivering best-in-class, advertiser experiences from pre-sale to wrap. As Axios continues to grow at a rapid pace, this team member will play a critical role in helping us improve processes and develop strategies to enhance our client support.

Zoom in: In this role you will:

  • Lead and develop a team of high-performing, local client success team members and ensure the team is successful in its strategic support of pre-sale activities and execution of client campaigns
  • Establish effective relationships and work closely with other cross-functional teams (Client Partnerships, Smart Brevity Studio, Events, Brand Journalism, and Ad Operations)
  • Partner with local client partner leaders to drive product, process and campaign success.
  • Maintain forward-looking expertise in what local advertisers need
  • Partner with VP of Ad Product & Customer Experience to establish ongoing evaluation of local product portfolio, including revenue and ad performance
  • Contribute and own special local revenue projects that are important to achieving local revenue goals

Details: Ideal candidates will have 10+ years of experience in implementing custom, integrated digital ad campaigns for a publisher or agency, at least 5+ years of people management experience, embody an entrepreneurial spirit, have a passion for the Axios mission, and demonstrate the following attributes:

  • History of successfully managing and supporting the development of direct reports.
  • Experience in orchestrating communications and priorities for cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable with making data-driven campaign optimization recommendations.
  • Proven history of building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Exceptional organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Obsessive attention to detail.
  • Experience contributing to RFPs and proposals.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in working with local and regional clients is a plus.

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $128,500 - $155,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other bonus compensation and benefits. Note that the total compensation offered for this role includes a sales incentive component, which is contingent upon the successful achievement of predetermined sales targets.
