Director of eCommerce & Growth
Avaline Wine
We're looking for a Director of eCommerce & Growth to own performance across our DTC storefront, paid media, and wine club subscription business. You'll be the operator who connects strategy to execution — building the systems, running the experiments, and managing the partners that drive efficient, sustainable revenue growth.
You'll report to the VP of eCommerce, Data & Growth and lead a small team of 1–3. This is a hands-on role — you'll be in the data, in the campaigns, and in the weeds with agency partners as much as you're setting direction.
What You'll Own:
DTC Storefront & Conversion
-
Own the Shopify storefront end-to-end: merchandising, CRO, UX improvements, and product page optimization
-
Lead site redesign initiatives and product catalog management in partnership with creative and brand
-
Manage A/B testing roadmap across landing pages, checkout flow, and promotional mechanics
-
Own blended AOV and conversion rate as primary storefront KPIs
Performance Marketing
-
Oversee paid media execution across Meta and Google — managing the agency relationship and driving accountability on ROAS, CAC, and spend quality
-
Build internal visibility into campaign performance through BigQuery and Looker Studio dashboards, reducing reliance on agency-reported metrics
-
Evaluate and implement AI-powered automation tooling (bidding rules, creative fatigue detection, budget pacing) to reduce manual overhead
-
Own the paid media budget and manage monthly pacing against plan
Wine Club & Subscription Growth
-
Own wine club subscriber growth — new member acquisition, cancellation reduction, and reactivation
-
Work closely with data and marketing to build subscriber segmentation and lifecycle campaigns via Klaviyo
-
Lead monthly wine club reporting and surface subscriber health metrics to leadership
-
Partner with VP on Recharge data infrastructure roadmap to enable event-level subscription analytics
Team & Vendor Management
-
Directly manage 1–3 reports across eCommerce and growth functions
-
Own agency relationship day-to-day: weekly calls, performance reviews, and escalations
-
Evaluate third-party tools and vendors across attribution, automation, and creative production
What We're Looking For:
-
-
Experience with subscription/membership products and tools (Recharge or similar)
-
Familiarity with Google Ads and Google Shopping — ideally some PMax experience
-
Working knowledge of Klaviyo for lifecycle and retention campaigns
-
SQL or BigQuery experience — doesn't need to be deep, but you shouldn't need a data analyst for every question
-
CPG, beverage, or regulated product category experience a meaningful plus
-
Who Thrives Here:
-
5–8+ years in eCommerce or performance marketing, with at least 2 years in a Director-level or senior lead role at a DTC brand
-
Deep fluency in Shopify and Meta Ads Manager — you've lived in both
-
Proven track record owning CAC and ROAS targets with full budget accountability
-
Experience managing an agency relationship, not just coordinating with one
-
Analytically sharp — comfortable pulling your own data, questioning reported numbers, and building your own dashboards
-
Strong project manager: can hold multiple workstreams, vendors, and a small team in motion simultaneously
Who Thrives Here:
-
You're a builder who's comfortable in ambiguity and doesn't wait for perfect information
-
You push back on agency and vendor narratives with data, not opinions
-
You care about brand and understand that growth levers exist within guardrails
-
You operate like an owner — the number is yours, not someone else's problem
