Avaline is looking for an organized and highly technical Accounting Manager to join our growing team. This role will oversee our accounting functions that include month-end close activities and will help us identify areas for growth and implement process improvements. Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent business, communication, and analytical skills to enable collaboration with various functions. The Accounting Manager is an essential part of the Finance & Accounting team and will report to the Controller.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and develop the accounting team, providing oversight of general accounting, revenue recognition, accounts receivable/payable, and inventory accounting functions
  • Own the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of journal entries, reconciliations, supplemental schedules, accruals, prepaids, and full trial balance review
  • Drive continuous process improvement, identifying opportunities to shorten close timelines, increase automation, and streamline manual workflows
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to improve inventory visibility, strengthen inventory management practices, and simplify accounting workflows related to inventory
  • Oversee the financial systems environment, including integrations with ERP and operational tools; collaborate with internal and external partners to optimize system performance
  • Ability to develop & streamline GAAP accounting processes & internal controls for the accounting and finance operations
  • Support tax compliance across federal, state, and local tax filings
  • Assess technical accounting issues for ad-hoc or non-routine transactions, provide input on accounting matters such as implications of new accounting pronouncements or classification of transactions
  • Evaluate monthly financial results with the Controller, preparing insights related to business results and trends
  • Support FP&A in the preparation of forecasts and annual budgets
  • Lead the annual audit process, managing preparation of audit schedules and documentation

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience working in the consumer products or a fast-paced inventory-based buisiness; public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or equivalent experience; CPA highly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, including experience with revenue recognition and inventory accounting; familiarity with e-commerce and wholesale a plus.
  • Netsuite proficiency preferred; experience with Shopify or related systems is beneficial
  • Demonstrated skill in research, problem-solving, and resolution of accounting issues and documentation gaps
  • Proven ability to develop, manage, and mentor high-performing team members and collaborate across departments

The Accounting Manager role offers a salary of $110-120K Base + Annual Bonus, based on a variety of factors
