Engineering Manager, Growth & AI | Acorns
Acorns is seeking two exceptional Engineering Managers for two distinct teams: Growth and AI. We are hiring one manager to spearhead our Growth engineering efforts, focusing on enhancing our customer acquisition funnel, and another to lead our AI team in integrating cutting-edge technologies to redefine financial wellness for our users.
Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.
What you will do at Acorns:
This is a posting for two distinct roles. While there are common leadership responsibilities, each role has a unique focus:
As the Engineering Manager, Growth, you will:
Partner with Product and Design teams to ideate, implement, and analyze A/B tests aimed at improving our registration funnel conversion and other key growth metrics.
As the Engineering Manager, AI, you will:
Guide your team in leveraging technologies like AWS Bedrock, RAG, and Agentic architectures to build and deploy innovative AI features and products, including our "Ask Acorns" in-app chatbot.
In either role, you will also:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-impact engineering team.
Work with your manager and team to establish priorities, including new features, infrastructure, and tool building.
Drive accountability by improving team processes, communication, and delegation of tasks and projects.
Act as a key advocate for your team, taking an active role in hiring, goal setting, performance management, and creating development plans to prepare employees for their next role.
Foster a collaborative environment that encourages success and innovation, while effectively managing team performance.
What you will bring to Acorns:
For the Engineering Manager, Growth role, you will bring:
A proven track record in Growth engineering, including hands-on experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization.
For the Engineering Manager, AI role, you will bring:
Deep familiarity with AI/ML concepts and technologies, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), AWS Bedrock, RAG, or similar platforms.
For both roles, you will also bring:
Experience leading engineering teams in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
A strong foundation in software engineering best practices.
6+ years of relevant engineering experience in fast-paced environments
2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
Demonstrated experience motivating, supporting, and developing team members to meet performance expectations and build their careers.
Ability to align company vision and organizational goals with team execution.
Commitment to upholding policy and procedures per company standards.
Ownership of strategic decision-making and effectively communicating direction to team members.

Compensation Information:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $210,000 and $225,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity grants, and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
